A Li-ion battery and Fuel cell technology: Fundamentals and Beyond

Driven by the recent large-scale trend of electric vehicle (EV) and expansion of other portable electronic devices, lithium-ion battery and fuel-cell technologies have received increasing attention, with their rising importance. In this short course, we will focus on such battery technologies in terms of their historical perspective as well as future prospects. Globally renowned experts on the field will give lectures as a part of this short course, presenting the fundamental theory, historical developments in research, and current status of R&D, in addition to their application to EV technologies.

B Breaking technology in thin film electronics

Organizer: Seiichiro Higashi Hiroshima Univ.

Innovative developments in Thin Film Electronics will be brought by technological breakthroughs represented by “Ultra-high resolution” and “Heterogeneous integration”. Device integration for future VR/AR is targeting 10,000ppi, and process technologies on the basis of low temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) and ULSI have been investigated intensively. Not only for display applications, but heterogeneous CMOS integration is the key to highly functional flexible and advanced electronics. Various materials such as oxide, organic, group IV, low dimensional structures, and more are integrated on non-crystal and crystal platforms. In this short course, we have arranged four lectures given by distinguished experts working in the field and who are leading the technology.
